This year’s Goldthwaite Music Festival is dedicated to the memory of Dave “PaPa” Grebe, who passed away in December 2024. From the very beginning, Dave was more than a supporter—he was part of the heart and soul of this festival.
A lifelong lover of live music, Dave had a deep appreciation not only for the songs themselves, but for the people who made them. One of his favorite parts of the weekend was chatting with the bands—especially about their guitars, amps, and gear. He could "talk shop" for hours, and his conversations always came with a smile, a laugh, and a genuine curiosity that made musicians feel right at home.
Dave also had a generous spirit. He often donated guitars or amps he had lovingly repaired to the festival's silent auction, helping to support both the event and the musicians he admired so much. Every year, he was one of the first to arrive and one of the last to leave—always ready to lend a hand with setup, cleanup, and everything in between.
His enthusiasm, kindness, and passion for music left a lasting impression on everyone he met. As we gather this year, we do more than celebrate the music—we celebrate the spirit of a man who helped make the Goldthwaite Music Festival what it is today.
Here’s to you, PaPa. The music plays on, and your presence is felt in every note.
